LIFE IN A COASTAL DUNE FOREST

GALLERY

The Conservation Ecology Research Unit (CERU) studies the restoration of South Africa’s coastal dune forests, particularly those impacted by mining and other forms of man-made disturbances. By leveraging the principles of ecological succession, CERU monitors the regeneration of new-growth dune forests following mining and rehabilitation—the outcomes of our research guide the development of evidence-based management and implementation policies.
