DR ROBERT GULDEMOND

My research interests include maintaining and restoring connectivity for elephants across southern African conservation landscapes. Here, I focus on understanding the drivers behind population dynamics, demography, and dispersal of elephants among protected areas.

In establishing linkages between elephant populations, I am interested in finding novel technology-driven solutions to prevent conflict where elephants and people share resources on the land. Another research interest of mine is formulating nature-based solutions to restore biodiversity to mitigate the predicted future climate change scenario(s). Here, I focus on understanding the ecological and landscape-scale processes that drive the regeneration of coastal dune forests in the wake of disturbances such as sand mining.
